Professional Gun Fitting & Stock Alterations

​A shotgun should fit you — not the other way around.

Every shooter is different. Differences in body shape, shooting style, eye dominance and personal preference mean that there is no single stock dimension that will suit everyone.

A well-fitted shotgun should mount naturally and consistently, helping you achieve a comfortable and repeatable shooting position. Even a well-made off-the-shelf gun may benefit from some adjustment to suit the individual shooter.

At Adam Bragg Gunstocks, we offer professional gun fitting alongside our stock alteration and bespoke gunmaking services.

Our fitting process begins with a detailed assessment of you and your gun. We consider your measurements, eye dominance, gun mount, shooting position and the dimensions of the existing stock. Where appropriate, we can then use our pattern plate and practical shooting assessment to see how the gun is performing and identify what adjustments may be beneficial.

A full gun fitting includes:

Personal consultation and assessment
Eye dominance assessment
Measurement and assessment of your existing stock
Assessment of length, drop, cast and pitch
Assessment of gun mount and shooting position
Patterning on our pattern plate where appropriate
Recommendations for any alterations required

The price of a full gun fitting is £100.

​

Because we are also experienced stockmakers, the process doesn't stop at taking measurements. If your stock requires alteration, we can carry out the work ourselves and refine the fit accordingly.

We undertake a wide range of stock alterations and refinements, including:

• Lengthening or shortening the stock

• Raising or lowering the comb

• Cast adjustments

• Pitch adjustments

• Altering stocks for left- or right-handed use

• Fitting recoil pads

• Adjustable comb installation
